50th Anniversary Celebration Recognizes Founder
October 14, 2019
Mrs. Eulene Shepherd accepts accolades for late husband’s work, Rev. Banks Shepherd, with Eastern Catawba Cooperative Christian Ministry, Inc. (ECCCM) at special celebration. ECCCM celebrated 50 years of serving Catawba County on October 12, 2019. It was on the same day in 1969, 50 years ago, that Rev. Banks Shepherd, with a pastor’s heart, heard the call of the needy and through compassion, brought other clergy and churches together in search of a cooperative benevolent ministry. ECCCM was born from this faith-filled work, and remains true to the mission of the original founders.
Mrs. Shepherd, the wife of Rev. Banks Shepherd, was recognized throughout the 50th anniversary celebration. Residing at Piedmont Crossing, Eulene made way to Catawba County to honor the work of her late husband. State Representative Mitchell Setzer awarded a certificate of appreciation, along with a North Carolina State flag that had been flow over the State Capitol to Eulene. In addition, Eulene was asked to cut the ceremonial 50th anniversary cake.
“Rev. Shepherd saw a great need in this community and was compelled to make a difference,” shared Joy Cline, a member of the 50th Anniversary Committee. “His legacy lives on. May we all take note of these words of wisdom by Jim Rohn.” “All good men and women must take responsibility to create legacies that will take the next generation to a level we could only imagine.” —Jim Rohn
