Piedmont Crossing to Host Inaugural Run for the Gold 5K

Piedmont Crossing retirement community, in partnership with Thomasville Parks and Recreation and RunTime Races, invites the public to participate in the inaugural Run for the Gold 5K and 1K Fun Run (walk or run) on Saturday, March 14 at 8:15am on the campus of Piedmont Crossing, located at 100 Hedrick Drive in Thomasville.
The paved route will encompass much of the Piedmont Crossing campus. General cost is $25 which includes a race shirt for early registration offered through March 3. Those that register after March 3 may participate in the race, but will not receive a custom race shirt. For those who are interested in supporting the event but cannot participate, there is a phantom runner option that requires no participation. Awards will be given to the top three male and female race finishers and top Overall Masters male and female. Age division awards will go to the top three male and female finishers. The funds raised from the event will be used for outdoor health and fitness equipment at Piedmont Crossing.
“We are thrilled to partner with Thomasville Parks and Recreation to host an event that promotes wellness and a community coming together,” shared Mitzi Hayden, director of home care at Piedmont Crossing. “It doesn’t matter if you are 5 or 105, you are welcome at this race. It’s all about being healthy and trying your best.”
The presenting race sponsor is Novant Health. Other sponsors for the event include Southern Pharmacy Services, Steele Group Architects, Tarheel Paper, and Piedmont Crossing Resident Association.
