Piedmont Crossing Residents Spread Love with Outreach Efforts

February 1, 2019

Piedmont Crossing’s Outreach Committee, led by resident Larry Norman, has been busy spreading love to others. During the month of January, when charitable donations often decline following the holiday season, residents at Piedmont Crossing started the new year off by helping those less fortunate.  Residents Bobbi and Chuck Rivers, Dorann Edwards, and Jean Thompson coordinated the efforts to hold a food collection for Fairgrove Family Resource Center, a Thomasville based food pantry. They collected 193 items, totaling 137 lbs. In addition, they donated $290 to the cause.  At the “Meals of Grace” event through Cooperative Community Ministry, Piedmont Crossing residents served 27 plates. A delicious meal, prepared by Bobbi Rivers and Nancy Norman, included lasagna, salad, French bread and homemade brownies that filled the tummies of many. Residents that serve on the Meal Team Crew include Fred Cotton, Ira Buckalew, Marcia and Jeff Hoffman, Larry and Nancy Norman, Joann and Parker McLendon. Another committee, the Sandwich Crew, made nearly 100 sandwiches to donate to Cooperative Community Ministry, a not-for-profit that helps those facing crisis. Residents Priscilla Joyce, Billy Doris Barrett, Bobbi Rivers, Dot Elliot, and Ira Buckalew prepared and transported the 96 sandwiches to those facing hunger in the community. #3GreatLoves #LoveofNeighbor
