Piedmont Crossing, Thomasville Parks and Recreation Department Partner to Host Community Blood Drive
January 8, 2016
This January, during National Blood Donor Month, Piedmont Crossing and the Thomasville Parks and Recreation Department are encouraging people to roll up their sleeves to give blood to help maintain a sufficient blood supply for the area.
Since 1970, National Blood Donor Month has been observed in January to not only honor blood and platelet donors, but also to help increase donations during the winter months. Maintaining a sufficient blood supply for patients is difficult at this time of year because extreme winter weather and seasonal illnesses often impact donor turnout.
The blood drive is being conducted by Community Blood Center of the Carolinas, the primary blood supplier to the regions patients and hospitals. Donors should be healthy adults 17 and older who weigh more than 110 pounds.
The community blood drive is scheduled on Wednesday, January 20 from 1-4:30pm on the campus of Piedmont Crossing, 100 Hedrick Drive . For more information about the drive, call Shaylyn Ladd at 828-465-8028.
