Piedmont Crossing Welcomes Jazz Duo
February 8, 2016
Piedmont Crossing will welcome The Whitings, a husband and wife jazz duo that has performed at theatres and special events in 23 states, to their campus on Wednesday, February 17 at 2pm. The performance is open to the public.
Tammy Whiting began her singing career singing in Spanish in the quaint international community of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico. While she was studying art and Spanish for her undergraduate degree, some fellow students heard the soulful quality of her voice, and invited her to sing with their group. She toured with the group throughout Mexico before returning to Phoenix the following year.
Jamey Whiting has performed and recorded with BB King, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, The Drifters, The Box Tops, Rufus Thomas, Lou Rawls, Ray Stevens, Dobie Gray and others. The Whitings play a unique combination of traditional, high energy swing with scatting and singing in harmony and soulful blues-influenced jazz ballads.
Seating is limited and reservations are required. To make reservations, call Blair White at 336-474-3605.
