Retirement Community Mentors Future Administrator

October 26, 2016

Doug Russell, Executive Director at Piedmont Crossing, announced that Mur DeJonge began the Administrator In Training (AIT) certification program at the retirement community.

The AIT program is guided by the North Carolina Board of Nursing Home Administrators. The program ensures that all applicants have the proper training and experience prior to becoming licensed as a long-term care administrator.

Under the direction of Russell, a licensed administrator preceptor, the training will offer firsthand experience in the areas of operations, clinical services, rehabilitation services, administration, food services, maintenance and environmental, and financial management.

DeJonge, who served in the United States Army for nearly 20 years where he held numerous positions in several military occupational specialties, is slated to complete the program in spring of 2017.

“Mur dedicated 20 years of life protecting and serving our country. The same determination that led him to a successful military career will serve him well as he works toward completion of this dynamic program,” stated Russell.

DeJonge is a member of various professional and civic organizations that include: American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Military Order of Purple Heard (MOPH) and Civitans International.
